  • AGAPE Christmas Shoe Box Project

    AGAPE Shoe Box Project       is to bring a bit of Christmas cheer to children in Armenia.

    Project AGAPE is a collaborative effort of both United Methodist conferences in North Carolina.

    The 2019  Project AGAPE project begins with a few changes, so be sure to read carefully.  Individual items will be accepted or you may put together an entire plastic box.  There are a few plastic​ boxes available in the Fellowship Hall to fill and a donation box for individual items.   If you purchase boxes to fill they must be 6 qt. plastic shoe boxes....no cardboard boxes can be accepted.  

    Please pick up the packing sheets and complete instruction in the Fellowship Hall.

    Please be sure to heed the list of approve​d items for each age group and the instructions on how to fill a box.

    Salem will pay shipping for boxes.

    Completed boxes or donated items must be turned in by September 22, 2019 to the Fellowship Hall.  If you have any questions, please contact Sally Simpson (email: tss27530@bellsouth.net).

                         Food for Hunger

    Salem Outreach: Pick up one or two extra cans of food when buying your own groceries.  Collection Crates are in the Fellowship Hall.  Filled crates are alternately delivered to the Community Soup Kitchen, Salvation Army, and United Church Ministries.      

    We CAN DO something about hunger in our community.

  • Men's Shelter Project

    Salem Outreach:  Supporting the Men's Shelter of the Salvation Army and helping provide the necessary items needed for daily living.

    Items include personal travel-size toiletries such as: shower gels, small bar soaps, deodorants, razors, shaving creams, toothpastes, toothbrushes and combs. Also, socks, shower shoes (one size fits all), flip flops. Warm gloves are needed for the cold months.

    Linens that include sheets (twin), pillows, blankets, towels, washcloths, etc.

    You are invited to help.  A basket is located on the Outreach table in the Fellowship Hall for your items.

    The Salvation Army is in need of egg cartons.  These are for eggs that are donated for the Men's Shelter that don't come with cartons.  Don't throw yours away!  Bring them to church and place next to the Outreach Table.

    Salem Outreah: Save Plastic Grocery Bags and bring them to church each Sunday. Please place them in the proper receptacle on the Outreach table in the Fellowship Hall. They will be given to those groups who are in ministry making Sleep Mats for the Homeless.

    Approximately 1,000 bags are needed for just one mat! Won't you help with this worthwhile church-wide project?
